Question & Answer Session:
Q: So how did your photo shoot go?
A: My photoshoot went well! There were a few bumps in the beginning due to uncooperative weather, but Mark stepped right in and improvised so everything ended up being a success. As a photographer, Mark was very patient and hands-on with his work. He knew exactly how he wanted his work to turn out and gave clear directions. His friendly and casual manner made me feel comfortable but at the same time he was very professional. Mark was creative with the lighting and tried to find the best possible angles on me as a model. Something that I really liked about working with Mark was that he gave constructive criticism so that we could produce the best results possible.
Q: Do you feel that doing different types of photo shoots helps refine who you are as a model?
A: Definitely, I think that every photoshoot is a learning experience because the combination of concepts, sets, outfits, make up, hair, and emotions and motivation at that point in time can never be the same or recreated. As a model, I think every photoshoot is an opportunity to discover a new angle that works for you, or a pose that does not portray your best features, and basically a chance to learn from experience. After a while, you start to figure out what type of modeling you're most comfortable with, or suits your figure/face the best and what aspect of modeling is your forte.
Q: What type of work are you pursuing?
A: For the time being, I'm a college student trying to make it to graduation with flying colors...well, hopefully :) After graduation, I plan on focusing my energy on my dream as an actress either in the US or China for a period of time. And if that doesn't work out, well...I still have my college degree to fall back on! As for modeling, it's a serious long-time hobby of mine. It's "home" for me; where I started. I need it. My friends say if I don't get a healthy dosage of it for a period of time, I go through modeling-withdrawal. hahaha It's in my blood :)
Q: What path in the modeling world are you seeking? Editorial, Commercial, Beauty?
A: Like mentioned in the intro, I started out with commercial modeling at age 10 but I wasn't really serious about it until 14. Most of the older work in my portfolio are commercial, so I definitely have more experience with commercial and catalog modeling than any other type. But I've really fallen in love with edgy, editorial and especially beauty modeling. I'm trying to build my portfolio in that direction with versatility.
Q: In a few words how would you describe yourself?
A: I would say I am a very determined, ambitious, but friendly person. If I have a passion for something, I will use my whole heart to try my best at it. I've also been told I'm organized, very punctual, optimistic, unintentionally funny, open-minded and honest. I think I have a lighthearted side as well as a serious/focused side of my personality.
