Crystal Couture Fashion Show 2011

This is Crystal Couture's third year. The event marries fashion with image and showcases the sexy, chic, stylized side of Crystal City—in a way that has never been done before. Crystal Couture is part art exhibition, trendy nightclub, fashion show, and hip retail store all rolled into one. This year's Couture will took place in the former Crystal City Food Court at 1750 Crystal Drive and is hosted by Crystal City BID.

Here are a few of the designers that participated in the runway show. Check out their sites to view more of their designs.

Lookbook: Calista Rose

Hey its a New Year and my new Lookbook project is just starting up.  For the people that know me, they know I have a million projects on tap and I just need to start them.  The shoot with Calista Rose was suppose to be casual and I just wanted to play with my ring light and other modifiers.  But we decided to develop a Lookbook for the her and the blog.

Headshots: Wilson Roa, a man with a passion for cigars.

I had the pleasure taking a headshots for fellow photographer.  I met Wilson last year at WPPI in Las Vegas and ever since then we have been good friends.  It's always fun hanging out with Wilson because his always light hearted and it's always great way to learn from each other.   His produces some of best work I've seen and you should check it his images.  Here is a link to his website: http://www.wilsonroaphotography.com

Here is a glimpse of Wilson who is normally behind the camera and  here's a little Q and A to better know Wilson.

Q: Who are you?
A: I’m a New Jersey native that migrated to the DC Metro area in September 2001. I am a photographer and that graduated in March 2010 from the Photography program at the Center of Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University in Washington, DC.

Q: Describe yourself in five words?
A: 1) Determined
     2) Industrious
     3) Easy going
     4) Funny
     5) Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Hey, it’s a real word and describes me very well.)

Q: How did you get started in photography?
A: It was a hidden passion that I discovered in 2005 when I started taking pictures at concerts and club events. I began working with a point and shoot camera and worked my way up to a DSLR camera. Ever since then, I’ve been determined to learn as much as I can to make great pictures and not just pretty ones.

Q: What type of photography do you do?
A: I love, and I mean LOVE, to photograph whatever comes my way. If you ever see a man running around with a camera trying to photograph a fly, then you know that’s me. Just stay clear of my path so I don’t knock you over!!! When I’m not chasing bugs, cars or running around in circles (my dogs are a major influence in my life), I love to take portraits of people and pets.

Q: What is your most memorable moment since you’ve become a photographer?
A: My most memorable moment was in November 2008. I entered my picture into the first annual FotoWeek DC contest. Out of thousands of entries, my picture was one of the 70 images chosen to be a finalist in the competition.

Another moment was when a photograph of mine was published in the Washington Spaces Magazine. It was displayed on the first page of the article. Both were major experiences that I will not and cannot forget.
